New Year : New Plans
Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by recently. It only seems 5 minutes since I was writing my 'Little Catch-Up' post and signing out for the festive break. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas full of good food, friends, family, cosy socks and late mornings. In amongst all the merriment, I have taken some time to enjoy our new home and really think about my goals for Morganna Designs in 2017. I thought I would share my plans here so I can refer back to them throughout the year. So, grab yourself a mug of something hot and I'll fill you in...
One big decision I've made, is to change what I share on my blog and how often I post. 2017 is the year when I focus on quality over quantity and take my time to do things right. That means, being focused with where I put my efforts and being intentional with everything I do.
So, this is my plan. I've decided to give each month a theme to focus on:
- JANUARY - Getting Organised
- FEBRUARY - Post Production
- MARCH - Blogging
- APRIL - Update Portfolio, Blog & Website
- MAY - Online Marketing
- JUNE - Printed Marketing
- JULY - Selling / Accounts
- AUGUST - Social Media
- SEPTEMBER - Photo Editing
- OCTOBER - Styling
- NOVEMBER - Review of the Year
- DECEMBER - Plan Goals for 2018
This month is all about 'Getting Organised' so I'll be learning how to use Lightroom to organise and edit my photos. (My current filing system is slightly chaotic so this will be a life saver as my image library grows!). I'm going to working through the Lightroom Essentials online course by Kim Klassen. I'd really recommend her FREE Leap Into Lightroom course to get you started if you're new to Lightroom.
Additionally, I've decided to challenge myself with a 365 project this year, not because I want an album of 365 images, but more importantly, I want to really get to know my camera, make photography a part of my daily life and push myself to create really great images. So far, it's going well and I've been keeping notes as I go which I may share here too. Sometimes I have great photography sessions where I come away with loads of beautiful images and other times, I'm just too tired and it's a quick snapshot in low light conditions before bed. Either way, I'm developing my style and learning at a rapid rate right now and I can't wait to see where I am this time next year.
I really want to invest in myself this year so I've got a full schedule planned including; training (online and workshops), books to read, equipment to buy and marketing milestones to reach. Steve has bought me tickets to The Photography Show in March and I've booked to attend the Food Portraits course with Aspire Photography Training in June so I've got some fun stuff thrown in too.
During the Easter break, I plan to do a complete re-design of this little space of mine. There will be a little bit of re-branding, new photos and information on my new services so you may have to bear with me as this little blog goes through some pretty big changes.
I'm posting pretty regularly to Instagram these days, it's where I check in most, so if you don't already, please follow me and say 'hi'.
I'm so glad you're with me on this journey!
Much love M x
