Saying Goodbye to 2017 and Planning the Year Ahead

It feels really strange to plan some goals for 2018 when there will soon be a new baby joining us and at the moment there are a whole lot of unknowns.  However, as most of you know, I'm a lover of goal-setting, list-making and planning.  Last year, I meticulously set out my goals for 2017 with month by month aims and challenges.  I have to say, taking the time to do this really paid off and 2017 was a really productive and goal advancing year for me - I developed my photography skills with numerous photo shoots to build my portfolio, I photographed my first wedding and met some lovely new people along the way.  This year, I feel that there will be just as much personal development in a different way.

Some News...

Happy New Year everyone, I hope you had fantastic Christmas breaks full of joy and merriment.  I'm taking the plunge today (it felt right being the start of a new year) to share the news that me and Steve are expecting our first baby 'Monk-ey', due on the 3rd May 2018.  I'm now over half way through the pregnancy and it has felt too scary to share the news until now.  Fingers and toes crossed we'll be welcoming a healthy baby boy in the Spring!

DAVID + AMY | Part 2

Back in June, I shared Part 1 of my wedding photos for the lovely David & Amy.  This was my first ever wedding shoot and it was the biggest risk I've taken with my photography so far.  Whilst at times this was oh so scary and unbelievably nerve-wracking, I am so pleased I put myself out there for this opportunity as I learnt so much from the experience and it has really helped me to turn a corner with my work and direction for Morganna Designs.

Work With Me

Hi – my name’s Morganna and I’m an aspiring photographer looking to build my portfolio.

I’m relatively new to the photography game and it all started back in the summer of 2015 when I started Morganna Designs online and wanted to take better images of my floral designs.  Two years later and I still have my trusty little canon EOS-M which I use for all my photography, investing in new lenses and little bits of kit as and when I can.

Seeking Stillness

So far, March has been a busy and at times overwhelming month.  I started a new job at the end of February and getting to grips with my new role and new things to learn has at times felt exhausting.  In between the chaotic day-to-day, I'm seeking stillness and calmness whenever I can.  I have to admit, I'm a natural worrier and learning to de-stress and fully relax doesn't come easily to me.  In fact, I feel like this might be my life lesson for 2017 (there are always things that will keep coming back to bite you unless you tackle them and anxious worrying is definitely a cycle I want to break!)

365 Project

In my last post, I shared my goals for the year ahead including my commitment to a photography 365 Project: a simple goal to get my camera out everyday and take at least one photo.  I tried this last year, but quickly got discouraged when busy working life took over and I missed a few days without taking any photos.  This year, I'm more determined to keep up the practice, but I'm also being kinder with myself if I miss a couple of days.  When this happens, I remind myself what the aim of the goal is, essentially to make photography a part of my daily life, to really get to grips with how my camera works, to get quicker at changing my camera settings to catch the shot I just don't want to miss and most importantly, to track my progress and visually record how my skills are developing and my practice is changing.
