At the start of the year, I came across Emily Quinton's January Flat Lays video and I was so inspired that since then, I've been tentatively conjuring up my own versions. After a long winter, working with fresh flowers again, especially these happy daffodils, was such a joy.
I didn't plan the flat lay too much and I'm really pleased with the final images. After a few placement issues to start with, I really enjoyed moving my chosen items around to create different compositions. My favourite is the first image, which was the last photo I took. It's really simple, the daffodils are the star of the show and I love the contrast of the earthy brown hot chocolate in parallel to the vibrant yellows of the daffs.
Emily has since brought out another great video on using tripods so that will be my next experiment. In the meantime, which flat lay is your favourite?
